The Tarn Gorges
Between the causses, the Tarn has carved gorges several hundred metres deep over millions of years. From Point Sublime, the plunging view over the river’s meanders is unforgettable. At the bottom, you can paddle down the gorges by canoe or boat and stop for a picnic on a pebble bank. A date along the water, where the cliffs form an almost unreal backdrop for a first outing.
Sainte-Enimie and perched villages
Listed among the Most Beautiful Villages in France, Sainte-Enimie steps down to the Tarn in steep lanes. Its former abbey, stone houses and small craft shops make the charm of a quiet afternoon. Going up the gorges or down to La Malène, other villages hide between the cliffs: so many stops to share a coffee, an ice cream, a panorama and ideas for the next date.
The Cévennes and Mont Lozère
To the east, the Cévennes national park and Mont Lozère offer landscapes of heath and forest, crossed by the GR 70 paths beloved of Stevenson. In winter, Mont Lozère puts on cross-country skis; in summer, it is crossed on horseback or on foot. On Lyad, members from Lozère share their favourite trails; it is up to you to find someone to walk in the open air with.
